ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will boycott tomorrow's (Saturday) session of the National Assembly where the prime minister will seek a vote of confidence from parliamentarians.

The move from the prime minister came after PPP's Yousaf Raza Gilani pulled a shock victory over Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, the PTI's representative, within the Senate polls.

Gilani secured 169 votes while Shaikh pulled in 164 votes.

The JUI-F chief spoke about the ECP also .

"We believe blaming the ECP [for their loss] in Senate election isn't the matter," he said. "We believe he [PM Imran Khan] blamed the ECP to place pressure on them [to not pursue] the foreign funding case."


'Everything is out of his hands'

When asked how he read the prime minister's actions of meeting lawmakers and holding party meetings immediately after the Senate elections, Fazl said that it had been a mirrored image that the prime minister was shaken by the defeat. 

"There is not any executive at the instant . there's no government," he said, adding that "everything is out of his [PM Imran Khan's] hands".

"He should announce new elections immediately and let a replacement government get elected."

When asked to discuss whether the PDM's absence from the National Assembly's session tomorrow will strengthen the government's move, Fazl said it might not.

"The importance of his whole narrative are going to be eliminated," he said. "They formed a fake government and are involved in one-sided procedures from day one," the JUI-F chief added.

When asked whether the PDM intended to start the long march from Karachi, he said a technique would be developed. "Caravans will travel from everywhere," he said.

The technology has been developed with the support of National Institute of Electronics, National University of Science and Technology and COMSATS.


 Last year in November, P M Imran Khan had announced that his government will introduce the new electronic voting technology within the country to make sure free and fair elections.


The Federal minister said: it'll help ensure transparency within the election process.

 THARPARKAR: The People Party will defend its NA-221 seat within the district on today because it braces for a challenge from the PTI and 10 different political candidates. 


Polling for the NA-221 by-election began at 8:00am and is predicted to continue till 5 'o' clock in the evening.

The seat fell vacant after People Party leader Pir Noor Muhammad Shah Jillani gave up the ghost battling coronavirus at an area hospital in Karachi.


The PPP has fielded Jillani's son, Pir Ameer Ali Shah Jilani while the PTI has awarded the ticket to contest the by-election to Nizamud din Rahimoon. Though there are 10 other candidates vying for the seat, candidates of the PTI and therefore the People Party are expected to battle it out among themselves for the seat.

The constituency features a total number of 281,900 votes while a complete of 318 polling stations are present within the constituency.
