The premier inquired about the business conditions from the vendors amid coronavirus pandemic and instructed them with standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued to contain the spread of Covid-19.

QUETTA: Launching yet one more broadside at the Opposition, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday claimed that Pakistan's previous rulers have properties in London in areas where even the united kingdom PM cannot afford to measure .

PM Imran made the remarks while addressing the groundbreaking of three highways within the capital during his day-long visit to Quetta.

In his address, PM Imran Khan assured the people of Balochistan that his government will divert funds to the province despite the financial constraints being faced. 

The premier also told the folks that the federal will discuss the expansion of insurance , almost like the one introduced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with the Balochistan government.

"After Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the govt is expanding the network of insurance per household in Punjab and Gilgit Baltistan. an equivalent would be discussed with the coalition government of Balochistan," said the PM Imran.

The prime minister vowed that his government is concentrated on bringing a "revolution of prosperity in Balochistan" by introducing projects that specialise in infrastructure and human development.

"Balochistan has been neglected within the past and therefore the [PTI] government will take every step to minimise the suffering of the locals," said PM Imran.

The prime minister said that his government had thus far developed 3,300km roads two years since they were elected, unlike the 1,100km roads built by previous governments within the last 15 years.

The PM said that if such major steps were taken within the past then the country would are better developed.

The premier blamed "elite capture" for the economic divide within the society and stressed the necessity for a model of development for all, regardless of rich or poor.

"Balochistan suffered apathy of previous rulers who ignored the province. But my ideology focuses on making Pakistan rise by uplifting its weaker segments," said PM Imran Khan.

On the opposite hand, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan, in his address, said that within the last 15 years, the previous governments left several development projects unfinished. He added that his government is concentrated on completing those projects.

He also highlighted the necessity to reinforce the connectivity of Quetta with Naseerabad and Sibi via dualisation to facilitate farmers and traders from adjoining areas.

Earlier, the PM was briefed on the general situation of Balochistan and therefore the development projects.

The premier was in Quetta to inaugurate the development of a 162-kilometre Ziarat Harnai road, the 23-kilometre dualisation of Quetta Western Bypass (N-25) and therefore the construction of an 11-kilometre Dera Murad Jamali Bypass (N-65).

The prime minister's aide on health said the NCOC reviews the coronavirus situation daily and receives an update on things of the health system in various cities. He added that the healthcare system's capacity was increasing daily.

Regarding oxygen supply, the de facto health minister of the country said that a committee of the NCOC is monitoring oxygen distribution and therefore the plants producing the vital gas. He added that the govt also can import oxygen from various countries if need be.

He urged the people to wear masks and observe social distancing and appealed to the general public to watch Eid with simplicity this year.


Pakistan records 10.20% positivity rate

The minister's appeal comes as Pakistan battles a severe third wave of COVID-19.

Pakistan recorded over 4,400 new infections within the last 24 hours, taking the entire tally to 804,939 on Tuesday.

According to the government's database for tracking the spread of coronavirus, Pakistan conducted 43,981 COVID-19 tests out of which 4,487 returned positive.

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Javed Latif has been arrested on bail during a case concerning anti-state remarks.

A district and sessions court in Lahore heard the case on Tuesday, during which the prosecutor requested the court to sought the removal of Latif's release on bail.

The public prosecutor argued that the PML-N MNA's controversial statement was tantamount to overstepping the bounds of affection for his leader. A CD of his statement has been sent to forensics.

The prosecution's case is in accordance with all the wants of the law, and at this stage, he doesn't have a basis to get bail, the prosecutor said.

Last month, Latif had made a controversial comment which was deemed "anti-Pakistan" by the govt and a case was registered against him. Latif had said that if anything happens to PML-N vice chairman Maryam Nawaz, "PML-N won't say Pakistan Khappay (we want Pakistan)", unlike Zardari, who had used those words after Benazir Bhutto was assassinated. 


Latif's lawyer said a conspiracy is being hatched to assassinate PML-N vice chairman Maryam Nawaz. He said Latif made his comment within the context of this conspiracy.

The court, after hearing the arguments of both lawyers, initially reserved judgment on Latif's bail application. Shortly after, however, the court dismissed his interim bail.

After Latif's interim bail was dismissed, the police arrested him from the courtroom.
