Indonesian Sriwijaya flight SJ182 loses contact minutes after beginning from Jakarta
A Sriwijaya Air plane lost contact after beginning from Indonesian capital Jakarta on Saturday. The Sriwijaya Air flight SJ182 dropped from almost 11,000 feet to 250ft during a space of 5 mins before it disappeared from the radar. The plane was on the way to Pontianak in West Kalimantan province when it lost contact.
As reported by sources to India Today, The aircraft may be a 27-year-old Boeing 737-500, with the license number PK-CLC (MSN 27323). There are 56 passengers and 6 crew members onboard the 90-minute flight from Jakarta to Pontianak, the capital of West Kalimantan province on Indonesia’s Borneo island.
Sriwijaya Air, an Indonesian airline, said during a statement it's still gathering more detailed information regarding the flight before it can make any statement.
In October 2018, 189 people were killed when a Lion Air Boeing 737 MAX jet slammed into the Java Sea about 12 minutes after take-off from Jakarta on a routine one-hour flight.
Reportedly the debris of the missing plane is found floating within the sea. it's now suspected the plane has now crash-landed into the ocean leading to the loss of lifetime of all those aboard. But there has been no confirmation of an equivalent so far .
